| Gorillas in the Midst of Murder; Corruption in Alaska; America Votes ...
THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED. ANDERSON COOPER, ANCHOR: Let's get serious now. We begin with endangered animals under attack; one of the most majestic animals in the world, the mountain gorilla. There are only about 700 of them left in the world. And in the last year, ten of them have been killed, all shot to death. It has gotten so bad that conservationists now fear the entire species could be wiped out. The gorillas live in a forest that straddles Rwanda, Uganda and the war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo. And that is where this year the killings have taken place. Last year, you may remember for 360 I traveled the Congo, I saw the endangered mountain gorillas in Congo. I have actually been six or seven times over the years to the region since I was a teenager.
MedBedsNow launches
A new medical company whose Web site is designed to aid health care discharge planners is launching in Austin. MedBedsNow LLC Texas' site targets hospitals, assisted living facilities and nursing homes and allows them post their available beds and level of care. Ann Passino, regional manager for MedBedsNow, says discharge planners who place patients in appropriate care facility once they leave a hospital, as well as family members, will likely be the site's most frequent users. The site is free to search and users pay a fee to subscribe. Passino says launching in Austin made sense because of its technology industry and growing medical industry. "Nursing homes are currently losing on average $125 per day per empty bed," she says.

Last year, Larry Durian jumped into his first St. Baldrick's Day activity head first — so to speak — at the urging of a colleague. This time around, the Canton man is being led by his heart. And for good reason. Durian volunteered to have his head shaved last March at Canton's St. Baldrick's Day, a meaningful alternative to St. Patrick's Day as well as a major fund-raiser to fight childhood cancer. He thinks that good deed just may have saved his life. ''Larry Durian was shaved and the stylist saw a spot on his head that she suggested he have looked at,'' Sue Stevenson, veteran planner of Stark County's St. Baldrick's Day activities, said about last year's party with a purpose. ''Sure enough, he had skin cancer, and he would not have probably found it if he hadn't shaved his head for our event.'' Durian, who is director of the pretrial department of Stark County Family Court, was all too happy to talk about the serendipitous circumstances.

THE BUSH LEAGUE: TV celeb watcher Billy Bush's empire is growing. President Bush's star-struck cousin has been tapped by Westwood One to host a nightly syndicated talk and music radio show -- in addition to his regular co-hosting gig on ''Access Hollywood.'' ''The Billy Bush Show'' is expected to debut in major markets in April, as will an affiliated outlet: BillyBush.com. Bush got his start in radio -- first at a New Hampshire station, followed by two in Washington, D.C., before getting his TV break as an East Coast correspondent for ''Access'' in 2001. MOVING HERE? Maybe I shouldn't have been so flip in Wednesday's column about Ashlee Simpson telling the crowd at the Underground she'd love to move to Chicago. Word has it, the singer and her rock-star boyfriend Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy have been spotted checking out a few fancy condos on the North Side.
