Adams bulks up Tour staff with stars

Add a couple of big PGA Tour names to Adams Golf's marquee.

Less than three weeks after signing Q-school graduate Tommy “Two Gloves" Gainey and Brad Elder, the Plano, Texas-based equipment maker has added a pair of top-20 PGA Tour players in Rory Sabbatini and Aaron Baddeley.

Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Sabbatini, a former Nike staff player who is a four-time winner on the PGA Tour and ranked 11th in the world, will wear an Adams hat and carry the company's staff bag while using Idea a3 irons, an Idea Pro hybrid and Insight driver. He finished sixth on the money list last year after posting top-10 finishes in each of the four FedEx Cup playoff events and winning the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial.

Baddeley, a two-time Tour winner and the 18th-ranked player in the world, was released from his deal with MacGregor in the fall.

The new science of Obamology

During the Cold War it was crucial to understand the intentions of the Soviet government. This task was complicated by the obsessive secrecy and a lack of objective media in the Soviet Union. One response to this challenge was the creation of a unique field of study: Kremlinology. Sifting through slogans and talking points, Kremlinologists would make educated guesses about the plans of Soviet leaders.

In the current presidential campaign, will it be necessary for American voters to develop Obamology skills? Sen. Barack Obama has taken center stage with his engaging personality and stirring rhetoric, but is remarkably coy about the specifics of his agenda. His campaign has posted a lengthy policy statement on its Web site, but it conceals as much as it reveals about the senator's political philosophy.

Israel broke law with use of cluster bombs in Lebanon: HRW

Human Rights Watch said Sunday that Israel breached international law when it bombed southern Lebanon with cluster weapons in 2006.

A 131-page report "Flooding South Lebanon: Israeli Use of Cluster Munitions in Lebanon in July and August 2006", made available to reporters at the United Nations Headquarters, said that Israel violated international humanitarian law with hundreds of "indiscriminate and disproportionate cluster munitions attacks on Lebanon."

Human Rights Watch said Israel had rained as many as 4.6 million submunitions, or cluster bomblets, across southern Lebanon - mostly in the final days of the war.

The report's lead author, Bonnie Docherty, said the United Nations must investigate whether Israel deliberately targeted civilians with the munitions.

Teleconferencing Gets Ready for Prime Time

Reaching a TelePresence studio, they press a phone pad button to make the call and start the meeting.

Cisco uses outside contractors, dubbed "advance technology partners," to manage build-outs. Those costs are part of the purchase price, via Cisco's service/support agreement. The telephony-based system has no monthly fees and its operating costs are comparable to that of a T-1 line, Cisco advises.

CISCO'S LEGAL TEAM

Mark Chandler, Cisco's senior vice president, secretary and general counsel, is -- as the saying goes -- eating his company's dog food. Chandler has enthusiastically embraced Cisco's TelePresence systems, and says their use has dramatically reduced his law department's national and international travel and meetings costs -- and carbon footprint.
