| Admiral Fallon’s “No Iran War” Line Angered White House
That story, published Nov. 19 and not picked up by any U.S. news media, reported that Fallon had "ruled out a possible strike against Iran and said Washington was mulling non-military options instead." Later that day, according to Barnett, Fallon told him during a coffee break in a military meeting, "I'm in hot water again," and then confirmed that his problems were directly with the White House. That was the second time in less than a week and the third time in seven weeks that Fallon had publicly declared that there would be no war against Iran. In an interview with Al-Jazeera television in September, which Fallon himself had requested, according to a source at Al-Jazeera, he had said, "This constant drum beat of conflict is what strikes me which is not helpful and not useful".
BIG BROTHER - VICTOR RILES BB HOUSEMATES
Victor's treatment of his circus performer sister Emilia is beginning to wind up his Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack housemates. The 19-year-old elder brother demonstrated love for his sibling by demanding that she make him a steak in the small hours. She refused, prompting him to observe that "loving sister means selfless idiot", and in the end it was Amy who had to meet his culinary needs.Jeremy declared him "pretty evil" and, after another argument yesterday, Nathan told him: "There are four guys treating your sister better than you."Perhaps Victor has his mind on other matters, as demonstrated by a conversation about love and girls early on Saturday morning."The thing is when you're in love you don't fancy anyone else, I think girls in here are fit but I don't fancy them," he said."You're like a magnet to women when you get a standing ovation, I get like six or seven numbers a night if I want to."Calista's reaction to his topless venture across the bathroom, which mainly involved shrieking with excitement, certainly backs up the first half of his claim.
Is indecency running rampant in our shopping malls?
Imagine that you're out with your teenage children and suddenly see a young woman walking nearby, completely topless except for one strategically-placed hand. Or some guys and girls run by, and one has clearly had his pants and underwear completely off - he's pulling them up, but you can see most of his backside. Or perhaps a half-dozen good-looking women strut by in nothing but underwear and high heels. Many observers would be irritated or shocked; some might even be angry enough at the young woman to report her for indecent exposure. But while these incidents would violate any local statute for indecency or partial public nudity, most of us would probably shrug them off as a momentary or isolated incidents. So why do we shrug it off when retailers take those same images, blow them up larger than life, and put them in hundreds of malls and teenage clothing stores around the country? The pictures currently in the windows of Abercrombie & Fitch and Victoria's Secret contain the exact images described above, and would violate public indecency standards in person.
Make My Day
Did it commit identity theft and buy thousands of dollars of electronics? We'll probably never know, because Meckler's lawsuit conveniently does not say what injuries she suffered, other than unspecified "internal and external" ones. So that makes one wonder what she'll use the $50,000 for? Hours of physical therapy? Deep psychological counseling to help her overcome her fear of small woodland creatures? A credit counselor to restore her credit score? And why would she blame the mall? How does a squirrel, who woke up one morning and found that his home had been replaced by a Cinnabon, become the responsibility of the Old Orchard Mall? According to the suit, it's because mall personnel "were aware of the longtime presence of said squirrel on the premises and allowed the squirrel to remain on the premises, despite the fact that the squirrel had previously attacked and harassed other customers, a fact known to Westfield." Ignoring the fact that Meckler's attorney writes run-on sentences that would make William Faulkner weep with jealousy, how does knowing about the squirrel make it their fault? Apparently it's because mall personnel "encouraged the squirrel to remain on the premises by feeding and caring for the squirrel, despite the dangerous conditions that arose from allowing said animal to remain on the premises." Squirrel: Dude, do you mind if I crash here for a while? My house smells like cinnamon rolls.

IN THE OUTDOORS: February offers host of activities
If you are one of those hunters or anglers who thought February was going to give you a chance to catch up on rest before spring fishing, you might want to double check the outdoor calendar. While the largest and likely most fun event is not open to the public, plenty of outdoor-related activities are available to keep us busy. It starts with the Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show and Conference (SHOT Show) in Las Vegas and ends with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation's annual Elk Camp in Reno. After taking its wares to Orlando, Fla., in 2007, the SHOT Show has come back here and begins Saturday at the Las Vegas Convention Center. This show is the shooting and hunting industry's largest trade show and is not open to the public. This year marks the show's 30th anniversary, and it's expected to be the largest show to date, with more than 715,000 square feet of exhibit space where buyers from 50 states and 75 countries will be looking for products to put on their shelves or in the pages of their catalogs.

Analysis: Nabucco gets boost
The company that's building the pipeline applied for exemption from the general rule of regulated third-party access in Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Austria, though which the pipeline would pass. EU laws permit such exemptions. "The safeguards to which the exemption is subject include a capacity cap preventing a dominant undertaking from booking more than half of the Nabucco exit capacity in Austria and rules to ensure a transparent and non-discriminatory capacity allocation to third parties," the EC said in a statement. This is the latest good news for the pipeline, which announced last week that German utility RWE would join the project. "Nabucco clearly has strong political support but it's been missing a heavyweight downstream component and it has that in RWE," Simon Blakey, a senior director at Cambridge Energy Research Associates, told United Press International in a telephone interview last week.
The Visionary
As I said, it is differentbut we will have advertising campaigns, TV commercials, people talking on TV to explain our program. We will use modern methods for campaign. I do not want to call them western, they are international [methods]. Do you think the National Front for Change represents a real threat to the NDP in the parliamentary race? This is an internal issue for opposition parties whether to run individually or form a coalition. It is up to them. This is not going to affect or change any of our plans. As I said we are taking these elections seriously and we are going to work very hard to win every seat. I do not really have to comment on what they [opposition parties] are doing. I will be happy to see more opposition members in the parliament and I will be happier to see the NDP maintaining a majority in parliament.
