| Apple explains iPhone SDK details, Xcode for iPhone
Developers have access to much of the iPhone's hardware, including the accelerometer sensor and the camera. A sample game, Touch Fighter, uses the accelerometer exclusively to control the player and uses full 3D positional audio. EA has ported a demo version of its upcoming life simulator Spore to the iPhone in as little as two weeks, Apple notes. SEGA has also ported a version of Super Monkey Ball that uses the accelerometer to steer the ball. This effectively puts a Nintendo Wii's remote into the phone, the game developer says. AOL has also created a version of AIM for the iPhone in five days despite its developer's lack of experience for the Mac. Users simply swipe to change active chats. Other examples of third-party development examples include a medicine guide for doctors through ePOCRATES and a SalesForce.com app for customer relationship management (CRM).

Rain can't wash out tennis tourney
The Nature Coast Tennis Foundation held its third annual Junior Singles Championship at Delta Woods Park in Spring Hill this past weekend. Weather trouble caused a move from Saturday to Sunday, but the rains held off long enough for the foundation to finish the tournament. With 42 entries, tournament director Louise Downey characterized the turnout as "highly successful." In the High School Girls final, Tamara Bustard defeated Alexa Burns in straight sets for the title, 7-5, 7-5. The High School Boys title was arguably the match of the tournament. Lasting more than two hours, Anthony Carter ousted P.J. Waterson in a final set tiebreaker, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6. In the Middle School divisions, the girls champion was Mallorie Pickersgill, who dominated Kayla Papp in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1.
What Microsoft Mesh Means To You
Just when I thought Microsoft was trying to out-Google Google , now we have another Microsoft pre-announcement mega-strategy, the "device mesh" strategy, but no real Microsoft products that yet deliver on five year unfolding strategy. I was feeling pretty proud of myself for piecing together Microsoft's online software plus services strategy, and thinking Microsoft changed it's spots by not going public with it. But not so fast, Quckdraw McGraw. Microsoft blurts the whole thing out at the Mix 08 conference. Plop, an amorphous new Microsoft strategy to confuse everybody while Microsoft gets its act together. But Microsoft had to go public with this, and now was the timing to do it. Ray Ozzie had to come out from behind the curtain, showing us he is the chief software architect to lead Microsoft and the industry into the future.
Kyle spills beans on 'affair'
RADIO'S number one shock jock, Kyle Sandilands wasn't upset when asked whether he was cheating on fiancee, Tamara Jaber with a dental assistant. He was just outraged that the rumour of an alleged affair wasn't with a Hollywood A-lister. "I mean, couldn't it have been with someone more glamorous?'' he lamented. In fact, Sandilands was so taken with being asked about his involvement in a steamy liason, by Hush that he turned it into an item on the celebrity-centric, Jackie's O News. Thanks for the free plug Kyle. By all accounts, it was a tumultuous week for the multi-media personality with his old foe Mark Holden diced and sliced from Australian Idol (who knew whose hand was holding the knife?) and threatening a tell all tome on his difficult last year on the show.
Keeping the home secure
Security means keeping other people out of your stuff. Just as a piece of software can guard your computer, there are do-it-yourself options for keeping your house safe from intruders. The InGrid Digital Home Protection System, which can be set up and activated in less than 90 minutes, lets a user keep an eye on the home front, even from a distance. The system uses wireless sensors on doors, windows and other spots around the house to detect intrusions. A basic kit with a command console, handset and three sensors starts at $129 at ingridhome.com. .
